The joy of Anime Foodie

As food blogs go, Anime Foodie is deliciously unique, devoted entirely to animated edibles.

I first came across Anime Foodie when tumblr offered it to me as a recommended blog and, boy, the algorithm was spot on. One post in and I was hooked: yep, it was love at first sight. I’ve been obsessed ever since, always delighted when a new post turns up in my feed, and I wanted to share the pleasure with you.

As its title makes clear, this is a singular obsession, focussing exclusively on images of food from anime. What makes it astonishing is that all the content – there’s lots of it and most of it is animated – is produced and carefully curated by the blog's author, Mayline Lau, and its range is breathtaking.

Anime has an emphasis on rendering the details of everyday life realistically, both in form and motion, and I've always been fascinated by the sensitivity and attention you see paid to even the most seemingly ordinary moments. I'm a fan but not an expert by any measure, and just watching all these animated foodie moments gathered together is captivating.
